SafeBuilder
The configurator that turns your most complex safes from a liability into a differentiator.
A single premium safe can carry thousands of valid configurations. Standard ecommerce product pages weren't built for that reality, and forcing a complex safe into a simple product listing leaves customers confused, sales teams fielding repetitive questions, and orders arriving with missing or invalid selections.
SafeBuilder solves this. It's a configurator built specifically for the safe industry, designed to let your customers build the exact safe they want, seeing it visually as they make each choice, with pricing that updates in real time and invalid combinations prevented before checkout.
Requires Pro or Charter tier. Charter dealers: all SafeBuilder variants (including Fort Knox) included at no additional cost.
The Math Standard Product Pages Weren't Built For
A basic safe listing works when there are only a few decisions to make. Size. Color. Lock. Add to cart. Many safes, particularly premium and build-to-order models, are not basic. A high-end gun safe might offer:
Multiple cabinet sizes and fire ratings
Exterior colors and finishes: matte, gloss, textured, custom paint
Interior configurations: shelving, organizers, lighting, outlets
Lock options: mechanical, electronic, biometric, redundant
Hardware finishes on handles, hinges, and trim
Accessory upgrades: dehumidifiers, jewelry drawers, lighting kits
Valid combinations from just six option groups with four selections each. Build-to-order pushes this far higher.
Variants per product where standard Shopify pages top out, with a hard ceiling of 2,000.
Option groups it takes a configured Fort Knox to hit that 2,000 ceiling. Standard pages simply can't present it.
Three Workarounds Dealers Use, and What Each One Costs
Faced with products that don't fit standard pages, dealers usually adapt in one of three ways. None are catastrophic alone. Together, they quietly erode conversion, trust, and margin on your highest-value inventory.
Simplify the Product
You strip options out of the online listing. Customers choose size, color, maybe lock type. Everything else requires a conversation. Your catalog no longer reflects what you actually sell.
Online shoppers see a less capable version of your product than showroom walk-ins. Your online presence undersells your actual inventory.
"Call for Details"
You leave options in the description but require customers to call before buying. The product page becomes a lead capture form, not a sales tool.
A "call for details" button on your highest-margin products is the online equivalent of putting them in the back room. You lose every customer who won't call first.
Accept the Ordering Errors
You leave options in the listing and handle mismatches manually, calling customers after they've ordered to clarify what they actually wanted.
Every order becomes a conversation. Sales cycles stretch. Some customers back out. Your team spends time on clarification instead of selling.
Your most complex safes should be your best-performing online products, not your hardest.
Purpose-Built for the Way Safes Are Actually Sold
SafeBuilder is a configurator that installs directly into your website, allowing customers to fully customize complex safes with confidence. It is not a generic product-options app. It's designed around the specific realities of how safes are sold online:
Deep option structures (thousands of valid configurations per product)
Rules about what can pair with what
Visual differentiation between choices, because color and finish matter visually
Pricing that has to stay accurate at every step
The goal: Let customers build the exact safe they want, in a way that feels guided rather than overwhelming, and deliver an order your team can fulfill without clarification calls.
A Guided Walkthrough, Not a Technical Tool
From the customer's perspective, SafeBuilder feels like a guided walkthrough, not a form to fill out.
Step-by-Step Selection
Customers move through each option group in a clear sequence (model, size, exterior, interior, hardware, lock, accessories) rather than facing every decision at once. A progress indicator shows them where they are.
Live Visualization
As the customer makes each choice, an image of their safe updates to reflect what they've picked. They see the color change. They see the hardware change. They see the safe they're actually buying.
Real-Time Pricing
The price updates the moment a selection is made. No surprises at checkout. No hidden upcharges. No guessing.
Compatibility Enforcement
If a combination is invalid or unavailable, it's prevented before the customer selects it. Incompatible choices simply don't appear as options.
Configuration Summary
Before adding the safe to their cart, customers see a complete summary of every choice they've made, with the ability to jump back and edit any of it.
Quote-to-Email
If the customer isn't ready to buy, they can email their configuration to themselves and return later. A common need in higher-ticket purchases involving more than one person in the household.
Direct Add-to-Cart
When they're ready, the full configuration flows straight into the cart and through checkout, with every selection captured cleanly for fulfillment. No clarification calls. No fulfillment surprises.
Why SafeBuilder Requires Pro or Charter
SafeBuilder is available only to dealers on our Pro or Charter tier. This isn't arbitrary, it's architectural. The configurator relies on a structured website environment that can support:
Deep option relationships: thousands of variants, with rules governing which can pair
Accurate pricing logic that updates in real time as selections change
Guided product selection flows that hold up across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Clean data architecture so configurations can be captured, stored, and passed to fulfillment without loss
If you're exploring tier options
SafeBuilder is available from Pro onward, not reserved for Charter. A dealer evaluating whether SafeBuilder justifies the step up to Pro is usually evaluating Pro's broader capabilities at the same time. Pro includes substantially more than configurator support: the full Dealer Authority System with Search Authority Engine, Authority Profile content, manufacturer promotion handling, and safe-industry-literate support, all built in.
You Don't Build It. You Don't Manage It.
SafeBuilder is installed and maintained by TSG. You don't build it, you don't manage the option library, and you don't chase manufacturer updates.
Included at Setup
Installation on your store
Full option mapping for every selectable feature across the manufacturers you sell
Pricing logic configured to match each manufacturer's structure
Compatibility rules between options (e.g. certain interiors don't pair with certain door types)
Visual layer setup so products render correctly as customers build
Validation testing before go-live
Ongoing Support: What Stops Being Your Problem
Manufacturer catalog updates: when offerings change, the configurator reflects the new reality
Pricing adjustments: as manufacturers revise rates, the configurator stays current
Compatibility maintenance: as new options appear, pairing rules are verified and updated
Site QA and stability monitoring across browsers, devices, and theme updates
You don't track which manufacturer updated what. You don't validate compatibility rules after an update. No staff member managing configurator accuracy as a side job.
How SafeBuilder Is Priced
Full installation, option mapping, pricing logic, compatibility rules, visual layer setup, and validation testing.
Covers all configured products from supported manufacturers other than Fort Knox and Vault Doors.
When your configured catalog includes Fort Knox and/or Vault Doors.
The flat-rate structure
Monthly support is flat across all configured products. A dealer with one configurator pays the same as a dealer with three. A dealer running configurators for Champion, ISM, and Vaultek pays the same $400/month as a dealer running just one. The cost reflects the ongoing maintenance burden of your configured catalog, not a per-SKU multiplier.
Why Fort Knox and Vault Doors tier higher
These carry materially deeper option structures than anything else in the category: more combinations to maintain, more compatibility rules to verify, more pricing logic to keep current. The $700 tier isn't a premium for prestige. It's the honest cost of keeping the hardest configurations in the industry accurate.
Charter dealers: all SafeBuilder variants (including Fort Knox / Vault Doors) are included in the partnership at no additional cost.
What a Pro Fort Knox Dealer Actually Spends in Year One
SafeBuilder rarely stands alone. A Pro-tier dealer selling Fort Knox online typically invests in layers on top of their Pro first year.
Pro First Year
Authority Build $17,500 plus Authority Operation $3,000/mo × 12. Dealer Authority System, Search Authority Engine, Authority Profile content, automatic manufacturer promotion handling, and two Manufacturer Packs, one Large and one Standard.
Fort Knox Manufacturer Pack
Onboards the Fort Knox catalog with structured product pages. Fort Knox is a Complex brand, priced on size and configuration logic.
Included Pack Credit
The Large and Standard Packs in every Authority Build apply as credit toward a Complex brand. Brands you carry beyond that are priced per Pack.
SafeBuilder Setup
Builds the configurator on top of the catalog. Without it, Fort Knox products exist but can't be configured for ordering.
SafeBuilder Monthly Support
Fort Knox tier, $700/mo × 12. Keeps the configurator accurate as Fort Knox updates options, finishes, interiors, and pricing.
Typical First-Year Total (Pro)
Charter includes all SafeBuilder variants, including Fort Knox and Vault Doors, along with Promotion Engine and Search Authority Engine. It adds custom design, direct strategic access, priority execution, an annual on-site session, and no Pack fee on brands you bring in after launch. Charter's Authority Build includes the same two Packs, one Large and one Standard, and brands carried at signing beyond those two are priced per Pack. A Pro dealer running Fort Knox with full configuration starts at $62,500. Charter is $94,500, and the difference buys the Charter relationship itself.
For dealers whose average Fort Knox sale runs $5,000 to $15,000, the economics are straightforward: the SafeBuilder layer above the Pro first year runs $9,000 in year one, and typically pays for itself on the first or second configured sale. Dealers who can deliver that entire experience on their website (visualization, pricing, compatibility, quote-saving, checkout) close sales competitors handle through three phone calls and a lost week.
What SafeBuilder Is Not Designed For
SafeBuilder is built for structured configuration, not open-ended development. It does not include:
Unlimited custom development
The configurator operates within its defined framework, which is what makes it reliable.
Experimental product structures
If a product requires a fundamentally different interaction model, SafeBuilder isn't the right tool.
Products that don't require configuration
Some products are simpler than the configurator deserves; standard product pages handle them better.
3D rendering or animated visualization
SafeBuilder uses static images that update with each selection, not real-time 3D modeling.
Why these boundaries matter: A configurator that tries to do everything becomes slow, unreliable, and expensive to maintain. SafeBuilder stays focused specifically on configuration execution, which is what makes it predictable, maintainable, and accurate.
Who SafeBuilder Is Built For
You likely need SafeBuilder if
You sell safes with more than three customer-selectable options
You offer premium or build-to-order models
You're currently using "call for details" as a workaround
Customers frequently ask questions the product page should answer on its own
You want to sell your most complex, highest-margin products online
You probably don't need SafeBuilder if
Your safes are all straightforward: size, color, lock, done
Your standard product pages are already handling your catalog cleanly
Your premium inventory is limited enough that clarification calls aren't a significant cost
Not every product needs a configurator. A dealer with only a few configured products may not need SafeBuilder at all, while a dealer carrying Fort Knox, Champion, and ISM configured lines almost certainly does.
What Changes When SafeBuilder Is in Place
What stops happening
Clarification calls on every configured order
"Call for details" buttons hiding your best products
Orders arriving with missing or invalid selections
Customers backing out after realizing what they actually ordered
Staff time spent on questions the page should have answered
What starts happening
Customers complete full configurations online without assistance
Orders arrive clean, specific, and ready to fulfill
Premium products become sellable online, not just displayable
Your highest-margin inventory gets the same online presence as simpler products
Quote-to-email captures customers who aren't ready today but will be in a week
For your highest-ticket, highest-margin products, SafeBuilder turns a liability into a differentiator.
How SafeBuilder Fits Into the System
SafeBuilder extends what your tier already provides. It sits on top of the Manufacturer Product Packs that onboard your catalog and the site infrastructure that renders your site.
Manufacturer Product Pack
Required foundation; the configurator builds on top of the onboarded catalog. Every Authority Build includes one Large and one Standard Pack.
Pro or Charter tier
Required for the structural support the configurator depends on.
Promotion Engine
When running promotions on configured products, pricing flows correctly through both systems.
Make Your Most Complex Safes Sellable Online
If your store sells safes that require full configuration (Fort Knox, premium builds, or any model with deep option structures) SafeBuilder ensures those products can be presented, priced, and ordered correctly.
No more clarification calls. No more "call for details" buttons. No more losing your best customers to competitors who can deliver the online experience your products deserve.
The standard isn't what makes the content good. The dealer is.
